Terms of Service
Last updated: March 29, 2026
1. Introduction
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the editutor™ website, applications, and related services (collectively, the "Service"), provided by Mayafuna LLC ("Mayafuna," "we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
You may also be subject to any additional terms or policies we post on the Service, such as our Privacy Policy, which are incorporated into these Terms by reference.
2. Eligibility and Accounts
The Service is intended for students currently enrolled in a college or university, including students enrolled through dual-enrollment or concurrent-enrollment programs. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement and are able to form a binding contract with us in accordance with applicable law.
You may be required to create an account or sign in through a third-party authentication provider (e.g., Google). You agree to provide accurate and current information, keep your login credentials secure, and promptly update any information that changes.
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. You must not share your account or login credentials with others.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. In particular, you agree not to:
- Use the Service in any way that violates any applicable law, regulation, or policy of your school, college, university, employer, or other institution.
- Use the Service to create, distribute, or submit work in a manner that your institution would consider a violation of its academic integrity or professional conduct rules.
- Misrepresent AI-assisted or AI-generated text as entirely your own unaided work where such representation would be considered academic dishonesty or otherwise inappropriate.
- Upload, share, or generate content that is unlawful, harmful, harassing, defamatory, discriminatory, hateful, or otherwise objectionable.
- Attempt to bypass, interfere with, or disable any security or technical measures, usage limits, or access controls in the Service.
- Use bots, scripts, or other automated means to access or use the Service in a way that we reasonably consider abusive or excessive.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code or underlying models of any part of the Service, except to the extent such restrictions are prohibited by law.
We may monitor aggregate patterns of use and may restrict, suspend, or terminate access to the Service if we reasonably believe your use violates these Terms or creates risk for other users, institutions, or us.
4. Academic Integrity and Institutional Policies
editutor is intended to support learning by helping you work with your own writing. How you use the Service in educational or professional settings is your decision and your responsibility.
Different institutions and instructors have different policies on what types of AI assistance are permitted. You are solely responsible for:
- Knowing and understanding the academic integrity or conduct policies that apply to you.
- Asking your instructor or institution what types of AI-based support are allowed for a specific assignment or task.
- Using the Service only in ways that comply with those policies.
If you choose to paste in text from other AI tools, or to submit work revised with editutor in ways your institution does not allow, you do so at your own risk. We do not and cannot guarantee that your use of the Service complies with any institutional or professional rules. You, not Mayafuna or editutor, are responsible for any academic, disciplinary, or professional consequences arising from how you use the Service.
5. AI-Assisted Suggestions and Your Responsibilities
The Service uses artificial intelligence models to generate, analyze, and suggest changes to text. These models are not human tutors, instructors, or editors.
The suggestions and outputs generated by the Service may sometimes be incomplete, inappropriate, incorrect, misleading, biased, or not suitable for your specific context. You understand and agree that:
- editutor provides suggestions and options; it does not provide final answers or guarantees of correctness.
- You must carefully review and double-check all suggestions, and you should not accept them blindly.
- You should push back or ignore suggestions that do not improve your writing, do not sound like you, or do not align with your assignment, task, or values.
- You remain fully responsible for the content of any work you create, revise, or submit after using the Service, including any text generated or influenced by AI.
- The Service does not provide legal, medical, financial, academic, or other professional advice. You should not rely on the Service as a substitute for professional guidance.
6. Usage Limits and Technical Constraints
To maintain the stability and quality of the Service and to comply with the limitations of our underlying AI providers, we may impose usage limits. These may include, without limitation:
- Limits on the length of each submission (for example, an approximate page or word limit per input).
- Limits on the number of submissions, sessions, or interactions you can initiate within a given time period.
- Restrictions on bulk, automated, or commercial use of the Service (for example, using the Service to process large volumes of text for other people as a paid service).
We may modify these limits from time to time, with or without notice, based on technical capacity, abuse patterns, or changes in our third-party providers' policies or pricing. We may restrict or suspend accounts that, in our reasonable judgment, exceed or attempt to circumvent these limits or place unusual strain on the Service.
The Service depends on third-party infrastructure and AI providers. Availability, speed, and performance may vary, and we may change providers at any time. We do not guarantee continuous or error-free operation.
7. Payments and Subscriptions
If you purchase a paid subscription or other paid features, you agree to pay all fees associated with your account in accordance with the pricing and billing terms presented to you at the time of purchase.
Subscriptions may renew automatically at the end of each billing period (for example, monthly or annually), unless you cancel in accordance with the cancellation instructions provided in your account or on the Service. You authorize us (or our third-party payment processor) to charge your chosen payment method for recurring subscription fees until you cancel.
All fees are stated and charged in the currency specified at checkout. Depending on your location, additional taxes or charges may apply.
All payments are final. Except where required by law, we do not offer refunds for any subscription period that has already begun, including for partial months or unused time. Cancelling a subscription stops future renewals but does not entitle you to a refund of amounts already paid.
8. Intellectual Property
All rights, title, and interest in and to the Service (including but not limited to the software, user interface, design, logos, trademarks, and underlying models and systems) are owned by Mayafuna or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any ownership rights in the Service.
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for educational or professional purposes. In the case of institutional licensing arrangements, the terms of the applicable institutional agreement shall govern the scope of permitted use.
You retain any rights you have to the content you submit to the Service ("User Content"). By submitting User Content, you grant us a limited license to use, process, store, and analyze that content as necessary to operate and improve the Service, including to generate suggestions and to maintain system integrity. Your content may be processed by third-party AI providers in order to deliver the Service; such processing is subject to those providers' applicable terms and policies. We will handle your information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for ensuring that your User Content does not infringe any third-party rights and that you have the right to use and submit such content.
9. Your Data and Account Deletion
We handle your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time through your account settings or by contacting us at the email address below. Upon receiving a deletion request, we will process it within a reasonable timeframe, subject to any legal obligations that require us to retain certain information.
10. Disclaimers
11. Limitation of Liability
12. Relationship to Institutions
editutor is provided by Mayafuna LLC as a private service. It is independent from any college, university, school, or other institution where the founder or any contributor may teach or work.
If you happen to be a student or employee at an institution where the founder teaches or works, you acknowledge and agree that:
- editutor is not an official service, requirement, or offering of that institution.
- Your use of the Service is separate from any course, program, or employment relationship you have with that institution.
- You will not claim or imply that editutor is endorsed, graded, administered, or supervised by that institution or by any specific course or instructor.
- You will not assert any special rights, grades, or obligations based solely on the founder's connection to your institution.
13. Changes to the Service and to These Terms
We may modify or discontinue all or part of the Service at any time, temporarily or permanently, with or without notice. We may also update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this document and may provide additional notice where required by law.
Your continued use of the Service after any changes to these Terms become effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service.
14. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, or any part of it, at any time and for any reason, including if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or created risk or possible legal exposure for us or others.
Upon termination, your right to use the Service will cease immediately. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including, without limitation, intellectual property, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and governing law) will continue to apply.
15. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms and your use of the Service will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Pennsylvania, unless applicable law requires otherwise. You and we consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
